What Your Machine Is Actually Telling You
F05 (or F05 E01) means the NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) thermistor is reading out of range. The CCU uses this sensor to control water heating.
NTC at room temp (~25°C): approximately 10kΩ. Resistance drops as temperature increases.
Common causes:
1. NTC sensor failed (35%) — open or shorted.
2. Wiring issue (20%) — connector loose.
3. Heating element (15%) — leaking current.
4. Cold water extreme (10%) — winter conditions.
5. Main board (10%) — sensor input.
6. Limescale (10%) — coating sensor.

What You're Probably Seeing Right Now
- F05 during hot/warm cycles. Cold works fine.
- Water is always cold.
- F05 is intermittent.
- Machine trips breaker on hot cycle.
DIY Fix — From Easiest to Hardest
1
Power Reset (5 minutes)
1. Unplug for 5 minutes.
2. Try cold wash.
3. Then try warm/hot.
2. Try cold wash.
3. Then try warm/hot.
2
Test NTC Sensor (5 minutes)
1. Unplug.
2. Find NTC on heating element.
3. Disconnect connector.
4. Measure: **8-12kΩ at room temp** = good.
5. OL or 0Ω = dead. Replace ($10-25).

3
Test Heating Element (5 minutes)
1. Disconnect element terminals.
2. Measure: **20-40Ω** = good. OL = burned.
3. Ground test: terminal to sheath = must be OL.
4. Continuity to ground = replace immediately.
2. Measure: **20-40Ω** = good. OL = burned.
3. Ground test: terminal to sheath = must be OL.
4. Continuity to ground = replace immediately.
4
Replace NTC + Element (30 minutes)
1. Replace both together ($30-70 total).
2. They share access point.
3. Saves labor by doing both at once.
2. They share access point.
3. Saves labor by doing both at once.
When to Call a Pro
- •NTC + element — $100-$250 installed.
- •Main board — $150-$400.
- •Trips breaker = element must be replaced (safety).
