Whirlpool F26

Door Switch Error

Medium severityExpert Guide

What Your Machine Is Actually Telling You

F26 is specifically about the door lock SWITCH — different from F22 (lock won't engage). With F26, the lock may physically engage, but the electronic confirmation switch is misreporting.

F22 vs F26:
- F22 = lock won't mechanically engage.
- F26 = lock engages but switch signal is wrong.

Common causes:
1. Switch contacts worn (30%) — repeated cycles eroded contacts.
2. PTC element failure (20%) — intermittent lock engagement.
3. Wiring (20%) — connector issue.
4. Moisture (15%) — water in lock assembly.
5. CCU input (10%) — board-side reading.
6. Door strike (5%) — not fully engaging switch.

What You're Probably Seeing Right Now

  • Door locks mechanically but F26 shows.
  • F26 is intermittent.
  • F26 during cycle — lock switch bounced.
  • Door feels properly closed.
